Roadtrip!

Here are some pictures from the road trip I took with my German friends around Sweden on Friday :) Our main destinations were just two of the castles around the area, but we stopped off when we saw something pretty so we could take pictures and look around :)

Please excuse any terrible looking pictures of me--I only got 1.5 hours of sleep before the trip...what can I say, Thursdays are big nights here in Uppsala.

First stop was in Enköping, Sweden. Just a little north of Uppsala (I think anyways...I was really tired). We stopped to admire this little church and some carved stones. Here's a picture of the five of us. We just loved that tree, it was really brighter than it looks there.
There are a ton of these little red houses all over Sweden and I love them and one day I am going to own one that is right by a lake! Next we pulled off to this little barn area. There was an electric fence that we decided would be fun to play with. So three of us decided we wanted to test science to see if the shock would go through all of us.It did.
I thought this next town was really pretty. Looked abandoned though. All the houses were really nice, but empty. I think it was more of a place you visit during the summer. And there was an awesome windmill. Finally we made it to one of the first castle! So awesome! Right by this lake too. I really like lakes. I think more than oceans. There is just something really calming about them. However I may change my mind when all the lakes around here freeze over. We got pretty lost on our way to the next castle. Took us awhile to get there, but it was actually fun hanging out with everybody in the car.

We were able to tour the inside of this castle which was just outstanding. The whole time I kept thinking, "wow, what a waste of money." It was really beautiful though :) No pictures allowed inside...sorry!I got to take a picture with the cute gaurd too! And the night ended with a trip to McDonalds. It's funny how much my international friends like McDonalds. I can't remember the last time I had it at home, but its quite a hit here. Maybe because everything else is so expensive!

Overall I learned that sleep is unnecessary and I need to travel Sweden more often!

  1. Looks like you had a lot of fun! I love those little red houses and all the autumn leaves! It seems so... country and cozy. Mmmm.

And yes, you need to travel around and do everything you can while you are there. Weekend trips every weekend. YES!

Also... I LOVE YOUR BOOTS. WHERE DID YOU GET THEM?

  2. haha yes i'm excited for my upcoming trips!

Boots are an absolute must in Sweden. Honestly, every girl has them. Nobody wears tennis shoes. Well a couple people here and there wear converse. But this is good because this means they have them for cheap here! I got them at a store downtown for about $40! Awesome huh?

Just another reason you need to come visit :)
